Alison Herbert & Co - past and present

The firm was founded at 10 Victoria Avenue, Harrogate in 1997 by Alison Herbert to provide a voice and to fight for those injured as a result of others negligence. In May 2000 she was joined as a partner by Gary Warriner who left a well established firm in Leeds. The firm expanded into 8 Victoria Avenue. The firm now has four fee earners working on behalf of clients and four support staff.

The firm needed to expand further and in April 2006 purchased 14 Victoria Avenue from Cawthron Kelbrick Lane & Co solicitors. A substantial refurbishment programme followed with substantial modernisation of the building. The firm moved into the new premises in November 2006 and works were completed in July 2007.

The partners in Alison Herbert & Co are Alison Herbert and Gary Warriner. Both Alison and Gary are long standing members of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel of solicitors. Membership of this panel is accreditation and recognition by the Law Society of personal injury law expertise, skill, knowledge and experience.

In 2000 the firm was one of the few law firms in the country to be awarded both the Investors in People and the Law Society’s Lexcel management standards at the same time. The firm have retained these awards annually since then. Both these awards recognise the firm’s commitment to good business practice and management with particular emphasis on the training of staff.

In 2005 Alison Herbert & Co were awarded corporate accreditation of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). APIL was established in 1990 and campaigns for better laws to help people who are injured or become ill through no fault of their own and has over 5,000 members. This award was given in recognition of Alison Herbert & Co having demonstrated sufficient quality in terms of experience, training, supervision and resources. All lawyers in the firm are members of APIL and the firm complies with the APIL charter which is a code for best practice in personal injury claims.
